Expedient Training opens its doors after 12 weeks

After almost 3 months of a closure due to COVID-19, the Expedient team begins a phased return from 15th June providing practical training to many organisations in construction, utilities and manufacturing.

After a thorough risk assessment the team have put in place the measures required in order to keep staff, customers and visitors safe when on-site.

Claire Irving, Expedient Training’s Operational Manager is delighted to be back:

“After 12 weeks we have made the decision to open our doors again to our customers. Before lockdown we had put in place the right measures for social distancing and have again carried out a thorough risk assessment and made more changes to ensure a safe place to train.”

Claire continues;

“We take safety extremely seriously, particularly due to this being our area of expertise, and we can assure all of our customers and employees that we have the right measures in place to deliver training effectively and safely.

We have an extremely busy time ahead of us, as we’re taking new bookings and re-scheduling training that was due during this last few months.

We’re really looking forward to seeing our customers and being able to deliver training to them to keep them safe in their day to day roles.”

Your safety is our priority

To ensure we deliver your training as safely as possible, we have implemented the following measures as per government guidelines.

  • Any delegate who may have symptoms of COVID-19 must not attend the training course. Symptoms include a new persistent cough, high temperature and loss or change to sense of smell or taste. In this scenario we will reschedule your booking to a future course free of charge.
  • All entrants to the centre will be temperature scanned before entry is permitted with NHS guidelines used and recorded as the acceptable range. Anyone showing temperatures above 38.5C or symptoms mentioned above must leave the centre immediately and consider further government guidelines.

Social distancing measures of two-metres between each delegate will always be observed. To do this we have:

  • Strict segregation rules applied on approach to and throughout the centre.
  • Reduced class sizes dependent on the size of the room
  • Closed communal areas
  • Ensured washroom facilities accommodate 1 person only
  • One-way walking systems throughout the centres
  • Prepared for refreshments to be served in the training room.
  • Staggered break times
  • Allocated desk and classroom entry / exit procedures

Further adjustments include:

  • Hand wash stations are available on entry to the building and in every room
  • Cleaning practices have been increased and will operate throughout the day
  • Where possible, training courses can be delivered via online meeting rooms
  • Perspex screens and the use of visors and facemasks to protect front facing employees

We have altered how we deliver training to ensure trainers and delegates do not touch and remain socially distanced during theoretical and practical activities

  • Delegates, MUST bring their own PPE for relevant practical activities
  • Face-coverings and gloves will not be provided but delegates are welcome to wear their own should they wish.
  • We will not provide lunch. Delegates must bring their own packed lunch and water bottles. Meals can be taken within the classroom, outside (weather permitting) or in delegate’s own vehicles. Please note that hot food cannot be consumed in the training rooms.
  • We will provide tea and coffee in disposable paper cups served within the training rooms.
  • We politely ask that you observe these guidelines in respect of the safety of other and yourself.

If you have any questions please call 0191 4890212 or ask to speak to Phil Embleton, Expedients Health and Safety Advisor or other manager.
