Construction & Utilities Training

Based in the North East and delivering throughout the UK, Expedient delivers training and testing to, C&G, CABWI, CPCS, NPORS and EUSR accredited standards with either external or in-house certification.

Our NRSWA courses (New Roads and Street Works) are a necessity for any employee who may be involved in working on or adjacent to the public highways as defined by regulations supportive to the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991.

Since April 2011 it is necessary for Operatives & Supervisors wishing to renew their Streetworks Registration Card to undertake accredited NRSWA written reassessments.

We are an approved NRSWA reassessment centre and has tailored its courses to suit individual candidate requirements of either examination only or refresher training and examination.

We also deliver a range of other courses that include Site Managers’ Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS), Site Supervisors’ Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS), PE Technology, Ground Support for Excavations and specialist courses such as winch training and CDM Regulations.

Health and Safety Awareness (CITB)


This course provides a practical summary of health and safety, welfare and environmental issues identifying individual responsibilities for looking after themselves and others, what the employer’s duties are and what should be done if they think anyone’s health and safety is being put at risk. This course is also an alternative route to the QCF Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment for the CSCS Labourer Card.

This course provides health and safety awareness and is endorsed by Build UK as standard training for all operatives on site.


1 day (7.5 hours per day).

Suitable For

This course is for those who have entered, or are about to enter, the construction and civil engineering industry as a member of the workforce, to help them understand the potential hazards that they face at work on site.


Delegates must be competent in English at operative level. This course is suited to all ability levels.


To provide knowledge and understanding in the following areas:

  • To ensure the individual responsibilities of the worker are understood.
  • Why they are carrying out their responsibilities.
  • What is expected of them.
  • How they contribute to the safety of the workplace.
Teaching Methods

Theoretical training and assessment. Assessment will be by multiple-choice question paper at the end of the course. Delegates are also expected to actively participate during the course.

Accreditation Options


Upon successful completion of this course candidates will receive a CITB Site Safety Plus certificate.
