NCO Level 2 Main Layer Distribution Gas City and Guilds

Suitable For

Level 2 is ideal for candidates working in network construction and have some relevant knowledge and skills, usually from a role where they have been supervised.

Aims

• This course provides knowledge and understanding in the following areas:
• Create an efficient and effective environment in utilities network construction.
• Maintain a safe and secure working environment in utilities network construction.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• Install equipment for safe working on the highway for utilities network construction.
• Install equipment for safe working on sites for utilities network construction.
• Locate and avoid supply apparatus for utilities construction network.
• Excavate and maintain holes and trenches for utilities network construction.
• Operate powered tools and equipment for routine and predictable requirements on utilities network construction.
• Join materials by electrofusion.
• Join materials by butt fusion processes on utilities network construction, up to 180 diameter.
• Conduct specified testing of gas network engineering products or assets-mains.
• Conduct specified connections to gas network mains and commissioning.
• Install gas engineering products or assets up to 180mm. Additional units are available.

Prerequisites

• Candidates must be network operatives employed on the gas distribution networks, either directly with an asset owner or through an outsourced operations company.
  
  Candidates MUST have, or have enrolled prior to, the following and have as a minimum 6 months to expiry at the beginning of the NCO course:
  NRSWA Operator
  SHEA Gas
  Butt and Electro Fusion
  Deep Excavation (Units 3&4)
