Expedient Secure Funding to deliver Skills Bootcamps

Award winning training provider, Expedient Training, has secured funding to deliver a range of Construction and Green Skills Bootcamps in the Northeast Region.

Skills Bootcamps are flexible courses which last up to 16 weeks and are being delivered in partnership with employers, further education training providers and local government.

The training and support available is aligned with local and national demand for skills, ensuring that people have direct line of sight to a job and support people to get skills for life.

Malcolm Atkinson, Expedient’s Managing Director explains;

“We are delighted to have secured funding which will support our region.

We have delivered training and qualifications for the construction and utility industries for 20 years more recently launching a green skill offering via our sub brand Eco Academy; we’re extremely well placed to deliver the bootcamps.”

What does this mean?

If you are unemployed, you could receive 100% funded training and if you are an employee, your employer only needs to contribute between 10-30% of the costs.

What is available?

Expedient Training are delivering a number of BootCamps offering a pick and mix of training courses, which will be shaped around the individual’s needs.

Various courses are available which are grouped into four key themes:

Construction Management

  • Safe Working at HeightRisk Assessment / Manual Handling
  • EFAW & Defibrillation
  • Location & Avoidance
  • Safe Use of Harness/Inspection
  • SMSTS (5 Days)

Basic Excavation

  • Health & Safety Awareness
  • EFAW & Defibrillation
  • Location & Avoidance
  • 360/180 Excavator and Forward Tipping Dumper

Materials Handling

  • Health & Safety Awareness
  • EFAW & Defibrillation
  • Telehandler
  • Slinger Signaller
  • Vehicle Marshall

Green Construction & Buildings Bootcamp

  • Health & Safety Awareness
  • EFAW & Defibrillation
  • Low Risk Confined Spaces
  • MEWP
  • Manual Handling
  • UKATA A Asbestos Awareness

Along with ONE of the following

  • Level 2 Internal Cavity Wall and External Wall Insulation
  • Level 3 Solar Photovoltaic Systems
  • Level 3 Air Source Heat Pump Systems (non-refrigerant Circuits)
  • Level 3 Installation and Maintenance of Commercial and Domestic Electric Vehicle Charging

Who is eligible?

Spaces are limited across courses and areas, however in essence you must have a registered address (company or own address) within either Durham, Gateshead, Newcastle, North Tyneside, Northumberland, South Tyneside and Sunderland.

You can be employed or unemployed

• If you are unemployed 100% of the costs will be covered if you qualify.
• If you are employed, your employer will get between 70-90% of the costs covered in you qualify

You will need to be aged 19 years or more.
