Overview

This course aims to provide a sound understanding of the excavation, backfill and reinstatement techniques used to work safely on the highway. It complies with the mandatory requirements of the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991.

Suitable For

For those employed in carrying out works on the highway who have not worked on the highway before or require re-registration on the SWQR.

Aims

  • To provide knowledge and understanding in the following areas:

  • Unit LA - Location and Avoidance of Underground Apparatus.
  • Unit O1 - Signing, Lighting and Guarding.
  • Unit O2 - Excavation in the Highway.

Pre-Requisites

Candidates must be:

* Physically fit.

Outcome

Upon successful completion of the course, candidates will receive multiple City and Guilds (C&G) Certificates and a Street Works Qualification Register (SWQR) Card.
