Expedient Training Services Quay Corner Training Centre is unique within the North East of England with an array of purpose built outdoor training facilities covering the range of construction, utility and plant training.
The training site extends over 1.5 acres and has additional off street car parking for 50 vehicles. The office and classroom facilities cover 300 square metres and has 4 training rooms, (accommodating up to 48 candidates), workshop and canteen facilities.

Externally the facilities include:-
Deep Excavation Pit
Our primary deep excavation pit is 8.5 x 2.5 metres with a maximum depth of 2.5 metres and is suitable for up to three 2-3-man teams working simultaneously on staged excavations ranging from 1.5 to 2.5 metres deep.

Pipe Trenches
An array of trenches utilised for the construction, laying and testing of gas, water, cable, drainage and associated house connections. This facility allows candidates the ability to understand the techniques involved with utility installation in simulated ground conditions.
NRSWA Bays

The Streetworks training area consists of a 4m x 10m area constructed as a standard footway surfaced with concrete, flagstones, setts and tarmacadam to allow the assessment of candidates undertaking the relevant complexes associated with this qualification. Unit 1, Location and Avoidance of Underground Apparatus, and Unit 2, Signing Lighting and Guarding, assessments are done on the public highway surrounding Quay Corner.

Plant Training
Located at the extreme of the site the plant area is configured for the full range of training associated with CPCS standards for 360 and 180 excavators, forward and rear tipping dumpers, telehandlers and rough terrain fork lift trucks and ride on and pedestrian rollers.
The area is also equipped for CPCS Slinger Signaller and Vehicle Banksman.
Confined Spaces
Expedient has invested time and funding in the design and construction of a flexible and purpose built structure to simulate a variety of situations and environments that may occur in a confined space. This type of structure is UNIQUE to the North East and is fully compliant to the requirements of City and Guilds 5831 Confined Spaces Entry.

Fire Fighting
Designed for the demonstration and use by candidates in extinguishing class A fires, this small fire fighting bay is used during Fire Awareness and Fire Warden course delivery.
Future Development
The development of Quay Corner is anticipated to be continuous as new programmes are developed. Planning permission is currently, (March 2008), being sought for the erection of a small warehouse complex incorporating further classroom facilities and allowing fork lift truck, mobile elevated working platform and overhead gantry crane training to be undertaken on site, this training is currently undertaken at our offsite warehouse unit.
