The experience and expertise of our trainers and Assessor/Verifiers is a major factor in keeping us ahead of the opposition. They are all vastly respected in their chosen fields, having a variety of different backgrounds. They themselves are all trained to the highest standards, including City & Guilds PTLLS 7303, to ensure your training experience is relevant to your needs.

Malcolm Atkinson
Managing Director and founder of ETSL
Malcolm is as passionate about maintaining industry standards through accredited and meaningful training as he is about the running of Expedient Training. Having spent many years within British Gas and utilities sectors holding several senior positions, his commitment to upholding standards is the reason for the enviable reputation that Expedient has within industry. Malcolm is a Fellow and Council Member of IGEM and a member of the Chartered Management Institute.

Bill Ramsey
Training Director
With more than 40 years of experience in the gas industry Bill heads up our team of trainers. He is a former Distribution Superintendant and Manager with British Gas and he has also worked as an independent Training Consultant. His vast experience includes delivery of a number of diverse engineering operational and safety training courses and he continues to keep Expedient at the forefront of Training & Development.

Joan Atkinson
Company Secretary/Director
With a background in the gas industry and banking, Joan brings a wide range of skills from the various roles she has held within those sectors. As Company Secretary, Joan oversees the finances and quality systems within the company as well as dealing with HR including staff training and development. Joan has been a Director of the company since its formation in 2002 and passionately promotes continuous improvement within it.

Lorraine Brown
Training Development/Health & Safety Manager
Lorraine is one of Expedient’s longest serving and experienced employees. As a former IHCD Ambulance Technician Lorraine is our expert in all things relating to H&S. She is a qualified trainer in her own right, specialising in First Aid, PTLLS and IOSH and her versatility occupies her across the organisation. She now uses her skills in Training Development, designing and delivering bespoke training courses to meet the needs of our clients. A Scout Leader and volunteer with the British Red Cross Lorraine believes that fun and flexibility is the key to training success.

Jack Hanwell
Business Development & Marketing Manager
Jack’s background is in oil & gas, marine and defence having worked for several high profile manufacturers. His role includes liaising with the manufacturing and engineering sectors to promote the business in these alternative areas while also continuing to raise the profile of Expedient both locally and nationally. Jack has been involved in training for many years and believes passionately in Expedient’s philosophy towards and commitment to training.

Peter Jackson
Quality & Funding Manager
Peter commenced his working life with Northern Gas in 1962 as an office junior and progressed through the ranks to Office Supervisor. In the late 1960s office systems were computerised and Peter became involved with the development, implementation and training teams working with both regional and national groups. These activities affected both the administration and operational personnel including the introduction of laptop technology to the operational staff. These activities and the experience gained helped provide the initial administration systems introduced into Expedient.

Kathryn Lamb
Sales & Marketing Manager
Kathryn has worked in Sales and marketing for 18 years. A competent business professional with a proven track record, Kathryn is very customer focused with an emphasis on delivering exceptional quality and customer care. She has worked in various industries to date, including 7 years in the health and social care sector where she tendered for and won large contracts in with both the private and public sectors. Kathryn has worked in the training arena for over 2 years and has successfully sold NVQ, skills for life and childcare qualifications, in addition to adding a number of local authorities to her growing list of clients.

Lead Internal Verifier
As Expedient's Lead IV Ian brings over 30 years experience in the Extractives industry to his role, having worked as National Training Manager for Cemex UK. As manager of our Qualification Credit Framework Ian is available to provide advice and guidance for all of your training and competence needs.

Paul Hood
Group Internal Verifier
In common with a number of other members of staff within Expedient, Paul’s background is in the Gas Industry. Starting off as a Senior Gas Engineering Technician he was seconded to the Training Department and ended up as the Training Officer responsible for Distribution within the Northern Area. An Incorporated Engineer, he is a Member of the Institution of Gas Engineers and Managers and also has a Diploma in Management Studies. Current responsibilities are the Internal Verification of Network Construction Operations (Gas and Water), Street Works and Confined Spaces.

Bernie Mullarkey
Training Instructor
Bernie is one of the most versatile members of the Training Team, holding a raft of training qualifications. As an instructor in Industrial Plant and Health & Safety he is able to deliver training at Managerial level (IOSH & ECITB courses) as well as many Operative courses. A qualified QFC (NVQ) assessor, Bernie can also be called upon to discuss your specific needs, working with you to reach solutions to improve your business.

Reuben Cooper

Reuben is one of several ex British Gas employees, having spent 30 years with the company. He specialises in Expedient's NRSWA, GNO and Confined Space training and is an integral part of our contract with National Grid.

Alan Lodge
Training Instructor
Alan has many years experience at his trade including 10 years working offshore and time spent in the Merchant Navy as an engineer. His training specialisms lie in the delivery of our Industrial Plant courses to CPCS, NPORS, and RTITB standards. Alan is able to work with clients to develop bespoke solutions to their particular needs.

As one of Expedient's Plant Operations' Instructors Albert brings a wealth of experience to his role. He is a passionate instructor who excels in the practical aspects of training, which includes Fork Lifts, Cranes, MEWPs, Slinger Signaller etc. He is also one of the company's QCF (NVQ) Assessors and an IV for Plant Operations

Lynn Bone

Lynn has been with the company since her transfer from Minster Safety Training in 2006. Lynn’s vast knowledge of the plant industry has enabled her to mentor other members of the team and help them gain a comprehensive understanding of the construction industry. As part of the Sales and Administration team Lynn has utilised her experience to form excellent longstanding relationships with many of our clients including several large blue chip organisations.

Sales & Admin Coordinator
Lyndsey joined Expedient as a skilled Administrator and since that time has developed in sales and customer service. Lyndsey now operates within a duel role and is also one of our valued Sales & Administration Co-ordinators. Lyndsey’s excellent organisational skills motivate her to take on new challenges and she has recently taken on the role of coordinating our National Grid contract while also continuing with her routine duties. Lyndsey heads up Expedient’s charity committee and is always eager to encourage the team to raise money for charities close to our hearts.

Finance Officer
Annette has more than 30 years experience within accounts, working for a variety of organisations. Throughout her time she has gained substantial knowledge and understanding of accounting processes and has experience of working with accounts software packages. Annette is a valuable part of the team responsible for maintaining an efficient and accurate Accounting function.
